"Choppers"
Guess where I took this shot from? If you guessed from the landing skid you're correct. I stood on the skid and 2 fellow Marines held me at my waist as I hung out of the Chopper. When you're young you think you can do anything. I loved flying in the Choppers when I was in Nam, even though we had some scary landing zone experiences. Bullets flying through the choppers, and hot LZ's were frightning.
My favorite Chopper. Is this guy giving us the peace sign or do we have two seconds to run for our lives ... hmmmmm? These little Bell Helocopters would fly low between the villages trying to draw enemy fire. Not too far behind would be a Huey Cobra gunship ready to take out any bad guys. Interesting tactic don't you think?
The "Huey" most common transport taxi in country. I preferred the 2 rotors troop carriers ,but we rode in these quite often also. I always felt safer with more metal around me. False security, the bigger ones went down more often, and were much easier targets. They might as well have put a bullseye on the side of the bigger hueys.
